Due to long term power loss, my tank pretty much crashed and I lost all my livestock except for one Female Black Ocellaris Clown. Last week, I finally bit the bullet- tore down and scrubbed all the rock (algae was out of control), and removed the remaining clown to a QT tank. Working now to get all my parameters back in line before reintroducing livestock.
My question is about how to select and introduce a new mate for her. I got two as juveniles about 4 years ago and they bonded nicely. She is now a good size and I am thinking a young juvenile for a mate (so it has not sexed yet), but I understand she may be aggressive towards it and I don't want any battles if I can help it.
I am thinking of putting them in the same QT tank with a baffle to separate and then moving them to the DT at the same time or maybe the small one first so he can establish territory first. I rearranged all the rockwork, so she wont have established territory in the DT.
Any comments? BTW DT is 125 gallon - 6 foot long
