New MP40 QD issue

So, just received my new MP40QD two days ago. After updating the two other units I have to QD on my saltwater tank, I wanted more flexibility on my freshwater tank other than a standard on/off powerhead. So I took the plunge and went for it.

Very quiet, which I love considering the tank is in my living room, after set up, a few hours after running at 25% the wet side fell down. They call this 'decoupling' evidently. I checked the set up, I have a rimless 140 Gal 6 foot tank so it has 1/2 inch glass, around 13mm so I was using the 'smallest' adapter (not just the rubber spacer). I thought maybe since it was a bit marginal, I went down to just the rubber spacer, and since it has happened twice.

I have experience with the pumps, they are mounted correctly and secured with the zip ties etc. The dry side stays put, but after a period of time the wet side falls to the bottom of the tank.

Any ideas??? I know the new QD have no 'pin' spacer...and I cannot find any info on breaking down the wet side since there is no new manual for the QD pumps..the impeller spins pretty freely, it isn't making any noise at all when running...

thoughts?

uwish,

Please make sure you're using the correct spacer based on your aquariums thickness. That said, are you using the hanging tabs and zip-ties to support the weight of the dryside? Also, what mode are you running the pump in?

I started using the medium spacer but my glass thickness is just on the verge of needing only the thin rubber spacer. So after I had the decoupling initially I changed from that to the thin rubber spacer.

I am using the tabs to hold the wet side as per normal operating instructions.

Since I only have one in my FW tank, I am using Nutrient and Pulse mode only up to 30%.
