New Mushroom rock!

I picked up a striped mushroom rock with about 10 the other day. One of the mushrooms has a pest anemone under neath it right next to the stalk.

I always sprayed them with boiling hot water, but with it being so close to the new coral I don't know. How detremental would this be to the mushroom? I was thinking since the mushrooms close up at night it could possibly work. Oh and the pest is not very big at all, it almost looks like a tiny feather duster.

I recall reading about other reefs plastering them up? What all is involed with this? How much would it cost? Would there be any down side with anemone being so close to the mushroom? Oh and i forgot to mention this is my only coral as of now so I don't want anything to go wrong!

Thanks a million,
Brad

A pic of what it is would be helpful. If its a tiny feather duster then leave it. If its aiptasia then kalk it. You got 10 mushrooms right? I wouldnt worry about damage to one. It should survive(ive gotten kalk paste on a shroom and it recovered quickly. If it didnt survive no worries. You will have more later as they start to spread.

It is pest anemone (about the size of a small duster). What all is involed with kalking it, and where do you find the kalk? ( Stupid question hugh :) )

yup, walmart, grocery store... the cheaper the better since you may end up using alot of it for frags.

what happened: i had a solitary blue mushroom that looked like he was doing well, until he started migrating the cap down, while the base was still in place, i pulled the head off and stuck him on a rock that i wrapped in tulle (wedding veil material) on this rock was an aiptasia that just wouldnt die so i kept an eye on its location until the next time i picked up the rock and covered its hole with a big glob. au revoir.
