new mushrooms won't stay put

Does anyone have any advice on how to make a new ricordea mushroom stick to a rock? I keep placing small rocks on top but a few hours later a hermit crab or maybe the current knocks it off. Will super glue work?

Get a small glad ware container from the store drill a truck load of holes into it drop in what you want it to stick to (corse sand, small LR peices, frag disc etc.) then toss the shroom in and cover with bridal mesh or panty hose hold it down with rubber band. Every three to four days check it and clean out container until it sticks.
I do this when I prop my shrooms , rics and it works great. but, somtimes it decides to stick to the contianer it's self rather then the rock at this point peel it off and try agian. or cut the container with shroom attached and mount to the rock sooner or later it will "walk" off on it's own then pop the plastic off.
This works well for unmounted Zoa's as well.

Super glue gel works well. I read it on here somewhere, or it might have been on dfwmas.org, not sure. My lfs and another lfs I have been to said the same thing.

if you have a raw foot the super glue gel will not work that well as the shroom inflates and deflates it will work it's way loose. and float away lost in the vastness that is your rock work. not saying it doesn't work just make sure if it does get loose your able to find it afterwards

doubt it as the satwater would prob tear it open.
You can drill holes into a plastc cup and place shooma dn what ever else inside flip it upide down and leave it on the sand bed.

Could always try the gel glue to but make sure the foot is very dry before trying otherwise it will fail for sure

In or out of the water? Either way, I can't seem to get superglue to stick to anything but my finger. I've only tried the gel.

I think I got it now. I just kept the snails, crabs, and current away. My fingers are crossed but not from the glue

Remove the ric from the water 100% place on a towel and let sit for a minute or so and then WITH GLOVES ON !! Gentle pick it up and tap it against a paper towel to get the remainder of the water off the foot. then put a monster glob of SUPERGLUE GEL on the plug that is also super dry and drop it on there. let sit for another minute then place it into a cup with saltwater from your tank let sit for 5minutes and then place it in low /No flow for two days and then it either will have let got or starting to take root.

superglue or coral glue never works for me.. at first it will then oneday the mushroom or ric is gone. i tried the rubberband way and the mushroom disinigrated. any more suggestions?

LOL. GLUE will only work if the ric is attached to a piece of substrate not the raw ric like JMC said. Go to your local home depot or whatever it may be and get some plastic screen (BLACK) that you can get for screen doors if you have dogs. It is perfect for that. You have to buy a pretty big roll but at least you have some for next time. Either glue or hold that down with rocks until the ric attaches to the desired rock then pull the screen out. Works like a charm.

The way I do it is with a frag tank that is crushed coral for substrate with barely any current then let the rics attach to a piece of the substrate. I then pull it out of the water set in on towel to get alot of water off of it. I have 2 bowls of water set aside for drying and finished. I then I use the brand super glue or krazy glue just the liquid kind. I put 2 drops on rock or frag disc then immedietly set the ric on the disc making sure the piece of substrate is in the glue. I let it sit on the towel for 1 minute. Then a quick dip in the first bowl. Then back to the towel. Let the water drip off then check to see how strong the hold is. Apply 2-3 drops more around the substrate and the disc to ensure a good hold. Dip back in the first bowl and then into the second bowl where it will wait until I am done fragging. The reason I use the first bowl is becuase the glue will dry instantly when you put it in the water but some will go in the water along with the ricordea putting of some slime(More if you cut them). Then the second bowl is to get them back in clean water before I put the them back in the reef. Helps cut the amount of slime or glue going into your main system. Pretty much the same way JMC does it. Hope this helps

I'm not the Mushroom King for nothing >:P

Been meaning to ask Phathead where you cook , What of cooking do ya do ??

I've always used superglue gel. Foot or no foot, attached substrate or no substrate. It will reproduce.
