First off I have a 20gal standard tank 24x12x16. I have a kessil 150w a hob filter, and two nano korila pumps on each side of the tank. My chemistry is solid and is stable.

Dkh 11

Ph 8.4

Ammonia 0

Calcium 22 drops or 440ppm

Phosphate 0

Nitrate 0

Nitrite 0

Sg 1.025

Temp 78-81 (night/ day)

My tank does not have a whole lot of low flow areas. I originally put the mushroom in an area with lite flow and less light. He did great was nice and big and flat for two days. Then he started shriveling up.

So with advice I moved him into a cave with even less flow and indirect light. He seemed better.

And then he collapsed back

I moved him further yet into that cave. Now he is very elongated. And has a sac underneath his cape. (I pulled him out for the pics)

I moved him out of the cave into an area that I thought would have zero flow. He was moving this am but I had to leave and can not seem to find help with him. I thought these wee pretty easy??

That growth on the bottom is the foot expanding, it usually means they're getting ready to bail and will be floating around your tank soon. Are you using an ATO, preferably with kalk? I used to have a lot of issues with mushrooms and that fixed them all in no time. Also, how are you measuring your salinity?

Salinity is measured by a hydrometer. I do not use an ato and I do not dose this tank other than superbuffer and calcium alkalinity. Everything else is doing fine. I'll see if I can't find him a happy place.

looks like desperate for light and is detaching to float somewhere better. Shrooms can take a lot of light if acclimated, but will float for better light if they don't have enough

Well I have ran a few more tests . My hydrometer was working about. 5 points below a refractometer ... It has not dropped to 7-8 my. 1.021 hydro reading was 1.026 refrac Now my. 1 .021 is 1.030 adjusted and ordered a refractometer. This might be the issue he has reattached but isn't really opening.

Stop moving it just because it changes shape... Just because it changes shape, doesn't mean it's unhappy.

Let it get used to its environment. Place it where you want it, and don't touch it for a week. If you see that it lifts it's foot up like in that last pic, then you move it.
