I have not had a ricordia before. I just put it in the tank about ten minutes before this picture.

While I was at the LFS buying the ricordia I managed to score two smaller pieces of a ricordia for free, see above.

So far the pink is doing great and has spread out more. I can plainly see that the smaller pieces are pretty beat up, that is of course why I got them for free; is there any thing I can do to help them get stronger or is patience the best tool of choice?

Very Nice stuff, I'd suggest keeping the light dim and flow low to medium at most. They're really sensitive and often the nicer ones seem like they'll die in the first few weeks... Good luck!

So you think I should keep the light dim, I have had them under direct light. I have 4 65 watt compact fluorescent lamps 2 actinic 2 10k during the day and 4 3/4 watt Lunar Blue-Moon-Glow lamps that I have on the rest of the hours of the day. These two chunks I have either had mid tank or three inches from the light in a cup floating on the surface. They seem to be doing fine but if I need to change the situation please let me know. I have only had them in my tank for aprox. a day and a half but already they seem to have more color then when they were at the LFS.

It would be hard to keep the light dim. JMHO Yumas prefer low light and low flow. I believe this is what FunGuy was tying to say.
If you have them 3 inches from the light they wont be "doing fine" for long.
Keep them lower, if not shaded and low flow and you will be good to go. JMHO and good luck with your new aquisition

First one is a yuma, hard to see what the free ones are but look like Ricodea Floridia....If they are Ricordea Floridia, they PREFER bright light and will actually THRIVE under MH or HO T5, etc..

This has been my experience too.. I have moved mine from middle to TOP and they are getting bigger and bulkier.. looking better more meaty then EVER..

I was under the assumption too that FR preferred dimmer light, but this is just not the case... I was looking for the link where I read this.. cant find it, If I do I will post it.. but my own personal experience shows me that FR prefer MH or HO T5... and do MUCH better under BRIGHTER conditions.. That isnt to say you should just SHOCK them into it either.. thats probably not good..either.. but I would move those injured ones up higher and let them grow and heal.

All of my FR's are under 250w mh lights at the bottom of the tank. They keep growing is size, but just don't seem to split......

Thank you all for your posts. Here is an update: They have been in my tank for a total of fifteen days and are looking to be content maybe I'll go as far as to say happy where they are at. Here are some pictures I took tonight.

I apologize for the blurry photos but I don't have a macro lense and the camera isn't the best.
