I just set-up a used RSM 130D - and I can't stand the noise. My husband wants me to get rid of it (I already have a 75g in another room that is quieter). I've been reading the posts and see that alot of people have the same problem - but I haven't seen much in the way of recent posts - to know what the current best fixes are:
1) Fan noise - what fans have you replaced the stock fans with to get reduced noise levels?
2) Skimmer noise - Which skimmer have you changed to? Have you noticed a difference in the noise level? I've been looking at the Tunze 9002 and the Hydor Nano SLimline.......
Once I resolve the noise level - then I want to address lighting and heating concerns .....
