I started a 20gal saltwater aquarium a month ago. I used a lot of pre-cured live rock and water from an established aquarium. A week ago I added a Kenya tree and a small polyp rock and Saturday I added a Yellow Clown Blenny which seems to be doing pretty good. Swimming around. Perching on all different kinds of rocks and stuff. However, i have been feeding it Formula Two flakes and it seems to ignore it. I have seen it take tiny peices like once or twice, but I have also noticed that some of the algae from the side of my tank it disappearing (only the hair parts, not the stuff flat on the glass, which makes me think its not the snails). Is it not eating much because it is eating the algae? I also have lots of pods that came with the liverock, could it maybe be eating that too? Or should I be concerned that it isn't taking on to the flake food? This is the only fish I have in the aquarium so I only have the flake food for now. I have considered investing in frozen food, but I was told it was silly for just the one fish because there was no way it would eat the whole cube.
Is this normal for a new fish? Is it just eating other things around the tank? Is it actually worth trying frozen foods?
Thanks!
Also, If anyone has some mushrooms they are willing to frag and sell, let me know. I hope to get some in a week or so after my kenya tree and polyps get settled in.
