New Sea Hare :)

After looking at fuzzy green and red rocks for a couple months I decided to do something about it.

Took a trip Saturday to Richmong and visited Fish World. Very nice place how often do you get to see a 1200 gallon tank. :)

While there I asked a few questions and now I am a proud owner of an ugly sea hare. He's not a looker but I guess I am happy that he blends in to the rock work. I will try to get some pics up soon.

I have only had him for a few days and saw him eating sand. I'm not complainig but would like him to focus on my rocks.I'm sure he will. ill get some before pics up too.

He is very cute! Is that a Dolabella Sea Hare? He looks just like mine :)
Thing is, they will starve to death if you do not have whats on their menu!
Keep an eye on him!

Have you had problems feeding yours? I have mostly fuzzy red and green algea. I have some chetto in my fuge.

Does yours just move around on the sand or does he climb thru the rock work?

the dolabella is mainly a Hair Algae eater. He goes everywhere in my tank. I do think mine nibbles on some red macro I have, but does not prefer it. I also have cheato and calpura, but he won't touch it. Like I said, keep an eye on him. If he doesn't seem to be eating or spending more time resting than moving, bring him to LFS, or give to someone who is dealing with HA. Dolabellas are a hit and miss and IMO should not be kept as a long term resident. I've had 5 over the past 2 yrs. I get them, let them do their job and then return them. The one I have right now does also munch on Danichi Sinking Algae Pellets, maybe you could try that. Also sometimes they will eat Nori Sheets, but that is sometimes. Hope this helps and Good Luck!! :)

Well I took him out of my display and put him in my cheto tank. Didn't look like he was eating or craping well. So I took a sheet of nori and placed it under a rock. Its only a 20 gallon tank so it didn't take him but a day to find it. Looks like he ate it all telling by the streamer coming out of his back side.
