Hey guys I just received this clownfish and it seems to have a white mucous all over its body. Does anyone know what this is? Thanks.

that looks like brooklynella. where did you buy the fish from? they should be ashamed to ship you a clownfish with obvious symptoms of brook.

the only cure is formalin. unfortunately, by the time the fish displays brook symptoms, it's probably too far gone. nevertheless, you should go buy some formalin and attempt to give it a bath anyway. maybe it'll come around.

Hard to diagnose with those pics, but clownfish are really bad about brook and that fits your description.

The best treatment is formalin. Formalin dips are pretty easy to do. I've formalin dip dozens of fish(angels/tangs) without issue.

Exactly. Unfortunately brook is a very quick killer. Worth a try to save the fish if you have it in stock. Also, whoever sold you the fish has a problem in their system.

I really appreciate the quick responses! Unfortunately I don't have formalin, you would think I would know better than to not have it in stock. The closest town is about an hour away. I have it in quarantine now. Ill pick up some formalin tomorrow and try to save him.

Walmart sells Quick-Cure. It contains formalin and will certainly help. I've seen it my local walmart for few bucks.

RidIch+ has formalin in it too. It's my dip of choice for all new fish.

I was not able to medicate the fish when I received it. The symptoms went away and now the fish is acting and looking completely healthy. He eats like a pig. I guess it turned out to be a damaged mucous coat from rough shipping. Thanks everyone for the help and i'm happy this turned out the way it did.
