New Skimmer going nuts

I know new skimmers take time to break in. I have it dialed all the way down... I have the tube for remote waste pulled off so the skim mate goes back into the sump... If I were to put the tube on, I would drain my tank in a short amount of time...

Does the protein skimmer take days to break in?

What skimmer is it? How deep is the water it is sitting in?

It is a Bubble Magus 7. I have had it in anywhere from 11 inches to below 9 right now... Same results no matter what depth. I have it turned all the way down. New tank of about 3 weeks. Just finished cycling.

well here are what the instructions say;

4. Just start to use a few days its result maybe is no very good, this is a normal phenomenon. After a few days it can be normal working, if washing completely skimmer inside, this time will be reduced.
5. Please adjust bubble level according to aquaria's pollute. Don’t adjust water level too high avoid water quality fluctuate cause much water effused.

Are you sure it's getting air correctly? If I plug my air line on my skimmer the bubbles will overflow the neck

Skimmers can take weeks to break in. Compound that with the fact that you have nothing for it to break in on, being that the tank is brand new, it will be a while before it fully breaks in.

Can take a week+ I ran mine in a vinegar bath in the laundry sinkm

I would raise it to sit in 7-8 in of water untill it fully brakes in.
