New SPS with peeling on branch?

I just noticedd that a new acro I got premium aquatics this weekend, while acting and looking completely healthy(great polyp extension and great color) has a branch on the far side I could barely see that looks to be dead about 1/8 inch or less, the tip has a dark green algae on it.

What is a good remedy for this? Can I cut the limp off or let it attempt to heal itself?

If its just the tip I would leave it alone. New growth will eventually grow out over the old dead skeleton. Now if its all over the colony thats a different story.

If you can get to it, I would cut the dead tip off, back into the healthy tissue just to be safe.

I can definetely get to it, In need to get some sharp cutters, since it is just the tip, any brand or certain kind that are the best?

I am going to keep an eye on it until tonight and if it looks any worse snip time, please advive on cutters.

I got mine from marine depot. They have edge cutters in there that are more resistant to rusting. Before I got those I just removed the coral from the water, and used a good sharp un-oiled pair of dykes from the local hardwhere store.

yeah in a week after you cut it you will see it mostly healed and will look much better than an algea overgrown dead tip.
