The wife finally started getting paid for her job and now I have a fish allowance. That she gives me. It is better than before when I might get something for the tank every month or two when some money was available or I just spent what I shouldnt have.
I replaced the light on the frag tank which is basically my main tank as its bigger than the nano-cube. The new 14K Hamilton 250W SE looks good so far. A much better improvment than the old Reeflux that seemed to lose its power six months after I got it, and that was 6 months ago.
I will be the first to tell you that I have been neglecting this tank some. With the wedding this summer and the wife starting a new joba nd all the home repairs on the weekends I never got to the tank. I did over the wekend and last night. Re-arranged the rock under the eggcrate for better flow and picked some bubble algae off some rocks and frags. Some macro had taken root in a couple of places that were getting low flow and that has been fixed as well.
I also got a new powerhead. I have always been the guy who cut corners and tried to get by with lower end equipment. If spending money always gets me something half as nice as the Tunze nano stream I opened up last night then I will be spending more. After opening it up and looking at the pump I was impressed.
Then I remembered there were magnets...I slid them off the cardboard they were on and proceeded to put them together. I remembered at that moment the instructions I tossed aside that said Achtung! Now I took German in high school but the magnets were now pinching skin off of three of my fingers and I was in pain. I got them off and pulled apart. I read the instructions and found out they pull between 55 and 110 lbs of force. My fingers still hurt this morning.
I am impressed with this pump and will be selling a Seio 1500 soon and getting another 6045. I will post when ready to do that.
The tank is looking cleaner and the flow is much improved. The mounting of this could not have been easier. The tank is a stock tank and I was able to mount it on one side right in the middle of a curve in the tank. I was impressed.
Pics tonight maybe.
Ordered it all from the reefstop on Thursday and got it on Monday with regular ground shipping.
