New sun coral

I picked this up not too long ago at a LFS. It's never really shown much in terms of polyp extension, so I figured it was time to pull it out and do the Tupperware feeding.
Unfortunately I had to leave for work, but even after I moved it from the bowl back to the main tank, the polyps were still somewhat extended !
I think it'll come around. :)

The smaller one that's next to it in the pics is usually extended most of the day.

Right after putting them in the Tupperware.

I think so too. I wish I didn't have to go to work. Lol. Pretty sure it would've come out more if I gave it more time.

I was surprised that it didn't retract at all, if anything it kept extending, when I moved it back to the DT !

these corals are one of my favorite! whats the best way to feed these guys in a dt? turn the powerheads off? I stick a syringe right up to them and squirt but it doesnt seem like they all get to eat like that.

This was what mine looked like for the first week after I brought it home

Now having it 3 weeks it went from barely coming out to this and easily accepts a cube of mysis every night at 11 pm.

Now to train it to come out earlier so I can get more sleep!

I like the tupperware idea. it has been working well to bring my sun coral back out. It keeps the darn shrimp from stealing the food. How long do you leave it in the tupperware?

I use a Sea Squirt. Basically, an extendable baster. Definitely turn the powerheads off, then just squirt a little into each head. Sounds like a lot of work but once you're used to it, it's easy. I feed over 500 heads of suns and dendros, in addition to several hundred heads of Terrazoanthids in the space of 15 minutes, every night

Hey buddy where do I find one at? is it long enough that you dont have to get you hands in the tank?

Here we go again. I've posted pictures of this feeding tube many times, but it works so well it's worth repeating:

You just attach a length of rigid airline tube to the syringe with a short piece of soft airline tube. Make the tube as long as you wish. I put an inch of soft tube on the other end too, because it's softer on the coral. Thaw the frozen food in a cup and draw it up into the syringe. I feed a whole bunch of different corals with this thing, including a couple kinds of hammer, a frogspawn, bubble, duncan and Sun. It also helps me direct food to the fish that are shy eaters. Try it.

I used to use a top of a liter bottle cut off about a 1/3 down to protect mine while feeding in tank. I had a killer cave so taking it out to feed all the time got old quick. Then so did moving it out of the cave to feed. Worked well. Both those sun corals look good. Start worrying when you see the pink skin at the bases of the polyps receding and whiting out. I just sawed my mother colony into about 5 or so pieces and they are actually doing superb. I quit spot feeding a while ago(months). I will prolly pick it back up on a seldom occasion now that the pieces are easier accessable, but it opens a couple times throughout the day and crazy at night. Their deaths seem to take a while to be apperent though but I've had mine for over a year and its came back from way worse than that.
