New Sun Coral

It opened up while it was acclimating this afternoon and opened up to feed this evening when feeding the rest of the tank. I've been wanting one for awhile now. Finially got to use some of my monthy bonus check on myself.

Good for you!! Just feed it regularly and it'll be one of your favorites in no time. I know mine is.

try feeding it 2 little fishes zoplan its a dried coral food that they really respond great to!!

I am searching the lfs for the right piece of sun coral right now. Almost bought one the other day but it had a dead piece in the middle so I decicded to save my $35 and wait till next shipment or so.

As far as feeding what I use and have been told to use is to put some 'phytoplan' (or any phyto- product I guess) with the mysis shrimp you may try feeding it. Also it helps my clown get a more nutritional diet as well as feeding all the other filter feeders.

One lfs showed me this stuff thats like 21.99 for a small bottle with a squirt top (like a hand soap bottle) and it must be refrigerated and he puts that in the tank to open his sun coral and then feed them mysis or something or that sort.

Exotic, dont waste your money on that stuff. Almost anything, selcon, zoecon, vitachem, zoe, or frozen cyclopeeze will get them to open with just a few drops in the water.
I would agree also to wait until you can find a piece without any recession. About 50 times i almost bought one that only had a "little" recession but kept waiting. Finally found a REALLy nice piece with no recession. Definitely worth the wait!
