new sun coral

So , I have this new sun coral That I bid online and got for $21.50. It has been in my tank acclimating for 5 days now. I have it partially shaded. It has not opened at all that I have seen. What I have done is put a home made feeding bell over it at night and introduce coral frenzy & mysis shrimp. I lightly dust the coral with the mixture using a pipette. I leave it for 2 hours and remove the bell. i have done this the last 2 nights. My question is; how long will it take for the polyps to open up? Am I maybe doing it wrong? I want very much for this coral to thrive and be happy in my tank. water params are good, all my other corals ( mostly zoas, LPS & softies) are doing great and growing. Any suggestions about what i am doing wrong would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

it may take a while to open up depending on what shape it was in when you got it,one of mine took a few hours, the other took two weeks!!!

In my humble experience, it should open within 20 min after food was added to the tank, for example, pinch of Cyclop-eeze to induce feeding response.

If it was shipped by mail and stressed more, than usual for LFS purchases, then maybe within 1-2 days. But I have shipping experience only with sps, usual LPS and softies, not sun corals.

IF the sun coral is anything like dendro then it will depend on what shape the coral is in. I have had a frag of suncoral not eat for 2-3 weeks only to come back slowly. now its growing new tissue and everything.

after doing the feeding bell thing every night. Finally it is beginning to eat .
