NOW ACCEPTING FORMAL MEMBERSHIPS!

If you follow the link below you will be taken to a preliminary website where you can show support for this club & its revival by buying a membership, As we begin to get people registered I will begin work on a formal website & then we can begin starting new club events. If enough members join (i.e. the fees collected warrant such an action) I will make the proper channels and register the club as an official non-profit organization.

I like your initiative but in my opinion before collecting fees and creating a website meetings are needed. Starting with meetings is essential to see what kind of interest there is, several topics including a mission statement, the club structure, fees, the need for a website, etc., can be discussed.
ReefCentral offers this section at no cost to local clubs and I feel is the place to start, if the club gets moving then the idea of a website can be examined.

IMO if you are collecting money, paying bills (website) then it is no longer a bunch of people with a common interest getting together which from my experience is what it has been. Ganjero is right I think you have the cart before the horse (A little PA dutch lingo) First you need to determine interest, decide direction, appoint leaders and at the very least a treasurer, then you can collect funds.

If you want to start your own club, go for it. Otherwise, this club is (and always has been) free.

I'm probably the only one left from the 'original' SRC, and our goal was always just to use this as an excuse to get together, drink beer, and talk about reefing. No membership required, nothing expected in return.

Ok.... Yes I may have gotten started a little fast. I always have moved fast. I will pull down the collection site this evening for now. This free and gather Type of model. Is not really a club but rather simply friends getting together. I was looking for something that has the formality an structure like our surrounding clubs. Btw I'm from Fleetwood. I was in no way trying to scam anyone I just wanted to provide everyone with resources like a website, etc. and the fee would have Been to pay for that. I see If I want that formality in a local club I will have to start a new club. I hope you understand I was trying to help and meant not to step on any toes.

I to like your ininative as well. I would like to see a meet of some kind. We need to see how much intrest there is.

NCNbilly If your the one of the last origanals would you like to run this club. ie have meeting some sort of gathering. I am not trying to be rude just would like to see some gatherings.

No ONE runs this club, we all do. Ininative is what gave this club a boost in 2008 when I became a member. You want to see some gatherings, put an invite out there, the active will act and the lurkers will lurk. I've hosted gatherings in Feburary 2010 & the last gathering in March 2011. I recommend someone have a gathering other than myself since you're all probably tired of seeing my set up:D

Oh hayl no.

Host a meeting if you want one - I've had 3 or 4 at this place and 2 at my old place. Just set a date and time, and put the invite out. That's always worked well for us.

I cant host my setup is ugly and there is no room. Just figured I would ask ya.

First let me say I have only been to a couple of get togethers over the past years but I still lurk about.
Coaster, your initial question about who runs the club may have been a good start and you may have been better accepted if it was worded as "would anyone mind if I do this for the club?"
Your exuberance is akin to theft of the club name. You just came in guns a blazing with having what appears to be no knowledge of this organization. A loosely organized group of "friends" can still be a club. If the organization and format of the club doesn't meet your needs or desires, find a club that does or start your own. If you like the basics of the club but just want to change some things then you work slowly over time to change those things.
