I just ordered a custom tank to replace my 180 Reef I'm getting rid of. I have a smaller home, and the 6' 180 Gallon is just too big for it.
The tank I ordered will be a 100 Gallon "Square" Rimless aqaurium. The dimensions ar 36" x 37" x 18". I won't have it till next month, so I have a bit of time to plan out my stock list.
I've been in the game over 5 years now, and have had success with more difficult species... don't be afraid to recommend them. Jumpers are also fine too, as I will have a screen top on the tank.
The tank will be 90% sps corals, no fleshy lps or brains.
I would like some suggestions on stocking. I'm interested in butterflies and angels (dwarf or otherwise). I haven't tried butterflies before, but do have experience with tangs, triggers, anthias, pipefish, and mandarins.
I have researched a ton on butterflies, but with my tank being more of a cube style nailing down what will work and what won't is a little tough. I would be completely fine foregoing all tangs if it means I can keep a wider variety of butterflies.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I have no problem spending $100+ on fish either. I realize this tank will have far less fish than my 180, so I have no problem in going quality over quantity haha.
This will also be a bacteria driven system, so having to feed large amounts of food shouldn't be a problem for me. It wasn't in my last tank anyways.
Thanks in advance for the help!
