I think this would work pretty good. I want to use a stokman standpipe 1" in the external overflow. Water will go to a 10-15g sump/refuge, and back to tank through 2 half in pipes.
I want to have this tank custom built out of glass do you think this is possible or will it have to be acrylic? Also, does anyone have any suggestions as to whom I should have build it, I am in Tampa Fl, and any estimates on cost ( I have never had a custom tank)? I do not want to DIY this do to lack of proper tools.
Ok, i went to the three best saltwater/reef fish stores in my area to see about getting this built, only one said i could get this in glass, one said only acrylic, and the last one the guy laughed at me when i told him i wanted it in glass. Two stores couldn't get me a quote untill monday, one said around $285 in acrylic (the guy that laughed at me). There is no way I am going to pay that much for a 29g tank, that my clumsy *** will probably scratch. I am going to wait and see what the price will be from the store that can get it in glass, if it is too high I think I going to just buy a 29g glass tank, some glass, silicone, and a dremel and try my hand at glass cutting. I think it is pretty lame when I see people building external overflows DIY, and only one out of three professional builders can do it.
If anyone knows, of a good, reasonable, aquarium builder in the tampa, fl area please let me know.
