So here is what I am thinkingââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¦.the 88gl I was looking at included stand and canopy, which all I am going to use is the tank. So I decided to not get it, but to go get a 90gl Drilled tank and a 40gl for sump cheaper then the 88gl, stand and canopy. I have a list started of parts, and it will be less expensive for plumbing (I knowââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¦its not that expensive), and much more easy to set up the Sump inlet and return. So now the thing that I am looking at is different equipment for the sump, i.e. skimmer, reactor, pump, uvââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¦etc.
I am thinking this:
Danner Supreme Mag-Drive 7 (return)
Pentair Aquatics QL-40 40w UV
Aqua Medic Turboflotor T1000 w/ ocean runner 2700 pump
Thinking about which reactor to do and how big an top-off to do, should it be feed by gravity or by doser (doing a lot of reading), I want to set it up for a hard coral tank. Lighting shouldnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t be an issue, planning on 1 250w (min) MH, 2 T5 (swap out the whites and actinic ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ one strip white, one blue). So mounting lights shouldnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t be difficult to do.
Was looking at painting the back and sides of the tank black w/ a hard bristle brush ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ letting it dry ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ then going over it with lighter color ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ then another color, should have a unique effect.
OR
Taking silicon and spreading it across the back and sides (inside) and pressing some crushed coral or colored sub straight into it, and letting it dry. Was told that softies will grow on it (would be interesting). I also was thinking of not doing the ââ"šÂ¬Ã…"œwhole backââ"šÂ¬Ã‚Â, but making a wave pattern when I spread the silicon.
Lots to think aboutââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¦.any comments / suggestions welcome.
