New Tank - Plumbing Issues - Need HELP!

Hey folks,

I recently purchased a "slightly used" tank.

I'm trying to plumb the tank but the holes in the overflow seem to be too close.

I put the drain bulkhead in and it fits fine...but when I put the return bulkhead in it the hole...it slightly hangs over the other bulkhead. They seem to overlap one another.

Is this common?

What do I do?

Those are sched 40 bulkheads. The bulkheads can not overlap or there will be much leakage. I always try to center my bulkheads. Try moving them away from each other in the holes. If that does not work, I don't know. Pictures will definitely help

I figured they couldn't overlap for many reason...but I can't move them away from each other...

This is a wild stab (not solid advice)

but, maybe he could trim off the side of each bulkhead that way when installed they install flat?

would that work or just leak?

I thought about buying a dremel and just cutting a small amout off each bulkhead...to where they would have a small flat edge...

I would turn the bulkheads so they actually line up...but I wasn't sure if that's something I want to do.

I agree on trimming an equal amount of the plastic off each bulkhead until they fit snug together. They don't seem to be too close that you'd be trimming off a lot that would cause your bulkhead not to seal properly.
