New Tank proposal, looking for advice.

Hi all, this is a great forum with lots of super information.

I'm just about to start purchasing parts for my first marine tank and i thought i would run my parts list by you guys in case anything seems mismatched or recommended against.

My plan is:
ACUARIO MARINO BLAU 230L (6 gallon) 92*50*50cm tank
- comes on stand
-comes with 100L sump

DELTEC MCX 300 - (apparently for tanks up to 320L)

BLAU Lumina 4 x T5 HO 92cm

As I've never had a marine tank before, i was going to start with a FOWLR on this one, and sneak in a bunch of inverts.

I used to do a lot of fishing (in australia), but where i live now (Spain) the fishing is rubbish. The law seems very lax, and when i have gone with locals, they keep literally everything. I'm thinking to get my tank set up and cycled, then go fishing/snorkling for inmates.

(There are a bunch of small wrasse, gobbies/blennies, etc here. Also love to have an octopus or a moray eel) I've never seen a mediteranean tank, so could be a bit unique.

At this stage, not looking at corals, the water parameters sound a bit tricky for me yet, although I'll probably re-evaluate this in 6 months or a year.

Not bad for a FOWLR and even some softies. You won't be able to keep an octopus with any fish or inverts though.

Also, it took me a second to realize your 6 gal is a typo. Should be 60 gallons.

Not in a 6 gallon tank you won't. You will be very limited in what you can keep in that tank.

However, welcome to RC! Always good to layout ideas and the plan prior to starting, as opposed to learning later.

Right, 60 gallons. Sorry about that.

Your point about the octopus eating fish and inverts is very true. If i was to get one, it would be the focus of the tank, and i would feed it with cheap fresh sardines and similar. I've got a couple of months to read up on this option and see if i want to go with it.

Likewise the moray eel option. A reasonably local fish shop offers snowflake moray (Echidna nebulosa), which may be suitable. I'm going to look thoroughly into these options before omitting. We have a trawler fleet in town, so I'm going to look into the possiblility of purchasing a buckets of live prawn/ fish from someone there.

I would echo that an octopus requires a specialized system.

A snowflake eel will be fine in a 60 gallon tank, although it possibly limits potential tankmates.

Local stock is fine, as long as you keep local collection laws in mind. We just won't be able to help you much with advice there.

It's good that you have a local fish shop. Look around and hit us with a potential stock list.
