New tank sweet deal.

A LFS gave me what I think is a great deal on an Oceanic 50 gallon tank, stand, glass top and light, black.

Out of pocket cost was about $120.

I traded 4 hammer frags, 1 frogspawn frag and a devil's hand, all of which I wanted to get rid of for store credit and I got about $100 for Xmas.

I'm replacing a 29 gallon tank which replaced the corner tank that sprang a leak after 10 years.

I'm also going to try T-5's. On a 30 inch tank the ends have shadows using a single MH bulb. And two would be too much, IMO so I'm going to give HO T-5's a try.

Cool, Jack. I think you'll like T5's. I've decided I really like the Geismann bulbs over anything else. With so many options (and different reflectors), T5's have options out the butt, though. Keep us posted on the progress.

i am in the process of an oceanic 50 build right now. i'm building my own stand/canopy & should be done skinnining it tomorrow if all goes well *fingers crossed*

stand is 34w x 20d x 36h for the tank, but overall, the whole unit skinned will be 35w x 32d x 72h

equipment list:
* sump - standard 29 gallon tank from glasscages.

* sump return pump - ocean runner 3500
* closed-loop pump - pan world 150ps
* overflow box, dual 3/4" returns, (2) 1.5" overflows on closed-loop & (4) 3/4" closed-loop returns...bulkheads, glass drills, overflow box & loc-line fittings all from glass-holes.com
* (3) sets of 24" 2-bulb icecap t5 retrofits from reefgeek. 2 are standard ballasts & 1 is 660 ballast to over-drive the 11k bulbs
* (1) pair 24" bulbs in each of the actinic, 6k midday & 11k all geiseman bulbs also from reefgeek

* ATO from autotopoff.com - dual floats in the sump & anti-rundry in the ato reservoir
