does anyone have any ideas on what kind of coral/grass that sea horses like in their habitat i would like to set up a 10 gallon tank with a small herd of H. zosterae + do they need live food?

Just from my own reading and help here on the forums.

They like eel grass it is their natural florida habitat. But they will hitch to just about anything and many people use fake plants.

They need live food at least 2xdaily
