I have a 58 gallon cube with dual 400 watt 20k radiums and was wondering what would be a good clam to start out with ... would like to get something in the blue coloration. Also what would be good placement/care for the clam as this will be my first one. thank you

Try the Maxima if you want the blue coloration and you have enough light that you can put the clam where you want it. As for the care just make sure you keep up on your water parm. cal. alk. phos you know all the normal ones. As for feeding you should not target feed the clam you might block there gills, and if you do want to feed phyto just feed the tank itself.

Actully you will prob find more blue in the crocea, but you will find nice ones in the maxima though, but if you would go with the crocea remember they need to be on a rocky surfuce so they can plant there foot then.

I think croceas stay smaller than maximas, which might be good since your tank isn't that big (I think). What are the dimensions? But wow! You have got alot of light! Although you might want to replace the 20k's for 65k or 10k's b/c maxima and crocea are shallow water clams, and thus don't need blue light.

Not bad viper dual 400's on a 58 gallon cube.....bet it's bright in there.....with that amount of light you can keep anything you want....go Maxima all the way
