I don't have the tank set up yet, just wondering how long from setup to introduction of corals etc. I would like to get some at the frag swaps/sales coming up in April. :-)

I grow and plant many of the flowers for downtown Des Moines for the parks dept. 600 + pots along the streets. Many large tropicals etc. I also create new hybrid plants.

If you set it up in the next week with live rock from an established tank you will probably have no problems adding some living things to it by April 5th, but you will still want to watch the cycle and make sure it has finished before you add anything.

Generally, add all your liverock first, test for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate for the first weeks, until your Amonia and nitrite are zero.. usually 3-4 weeks. From there I recommend SLOWLY adding fish 1 at a time. Being a beginner it would be best for you (and the livestock) to wait and add corals a few months later when you have more experience with the water chemistry. It wouldn't hurt to get a couple easier corals at the swap though. Zoas and mushrooms would be a good choice.
