New to non-photosynthetic

I am going to upgrade from a 55g to a 125g and am going to use the same t5 lighting centered on the tank. I was thinking of getting some non-photosynthetic to put in the open 1 ft areas at the end of the tank. Any ideas would this work?

Keep in mind what ever you are planning to add to these sections needs to be fed, so plan out what you would like to keep, and the method of how food is going to get to the corals. If it is something that is going to be spot fed, make sure you have accessibility to be able get to the coral. If you are planning to broadcast feed, then make sure the flow is adequate in take to get the food to the corals. Fish & invert selection, some might hinder the corals in feeding. There is a lot more to keep into consideration then just because they are non-photosynthetic so they are fine being put into a shaded area. Ideal placement for some corals might not actually be in the "shaded" area.
