Jim Mahoney, Jacksonville Florida, I was referred here by Nick Horner. I am new to Salt water life. I currently have a 10 gallon holding tank while setting up 65 Gallon (36x18), going to be mainly FOWLR but I am going to start with some basic corals like GSP for my clowns. I am setting up R-200 refugium and wondering about Power Heads and Lights (looking at AquaMars LEDs ) and wondering if I should get 1 or 2? I am going to have Clowns (2), 3 Blue Green Chromis, 4 Bengai Cardinals, Flame Angel and Leopard Wrasse with Clean Up Crew.

Welcome! Look around the forum. Read, read, read! Don't be afraid to ask, but if you need help about something, remember to be specific.

at least 2 powerheads that move 750 gallons per hour, some people go overboard on these. I use two only in my 75 with great results. both are up high but nothing just sits on the bottom. I believe moderate flow is better than too much but what do i know? check out the usa orbit marine leds. i have two of those

Thanks 30G I'm going to check that out, ordering stuff tomorrow and tank setup next week, probably going to do fish less cycle with some clean up crew in there

check out all the stickies at the top of each forum section. loads of useful info can be found. remember to take it slow. no need to rush in this hobby lol

Welcome aboard Jim! Just a quick not on your fish wish list: Only buy 1 Blue Green Chromis because that's what you'll end up with in that sized tank, anyway. They need their sleeping space and will kill each other for that sleeping space. Leopard wrasses are listed as "Expert Only". Be prepared to lose it if you buy it. You may get lucky, most likely not. They need a mature tank with lots of tiny crustacean life to hunt and eat.

Good luck and please keep us updated with pictures of your tank as it comes along.

+1 . Chromis Pick on there weakest until there are only one especially in a smaller tank. We have 7 of them still out of the 13 originally purchased but since weeded them down to only the two that seem to spawn . the rest went into the stock tank. Where they still relentless fight among themselves...

in my opinion thou they are great when schooling once they realize no predator is after them they become singular other then to gang up on there own kind. bullies i tell you they are.

Welcome to the Community.. The place where there is almost not just 1 right answer.

Has anyone had any luck with the Aquamars 165 watt LED's? I'm trying to find adequate lighting that will not break the bank. I found them on line for $80 each is this a good deal?
I'm fairly new to the hobby and could use some advice. Thanks
