New to saltwater and new build

I am wanting to start my first salt water tank which will be a reef tank. I know I want a apex controller to be able to monitor the tank closely. I have a 75 gallon reef ready tank with corner overflow. The plan I have is this, Herbie overflow since I have a pre drilled tank. New Apex controller. I only have 24 inch wide area under the tank as the stand also houses entertainment devises
on one side below the tank. With that said I am thinking of moving the sump to my basement to be able to accommodate a larger sump. I know if I relocate the sump I will have 13 foot head height and 25 foot horizontal run to deal with. I would like all my equipment to work with the apex for monitoring. I would like feed back on lighting, return pump and what ever I have over looked. Thanks.

I'd be careful about placing anything directly under the tank that you would mind getting wet. Weird accidents happen. Good luck!

I thought of that when I built it and every thing is were water is way or runs away from
electronics. Already have water loops on entertainment devices.

You could get by with a large return pump like the vectra m1 with a 21 foot head pressure rating. I tried putting my stuff under my tank with sump in stand and it ruined power bars and I had to metal file all of plugs after 6 months Or so. My new system as everything ran exterior.

You need to remember with the reef tank is not only possible water that my get to the electronics but also the salt creep, which depending on the tank can be significant.

You will also need the following
-Lights (brand depending on your budget or willingness to spend X$ on lights)
-Power heads for water movement in the tank
-Protein Skimmer
-Test Kits
-RO/Di system (strongly recommended)
-ATO (Automatic top off system)
-Refractometer to measure salinity as the Apex salinity probe is not very reliable or accurate (from what I have read multiple times here on RC).

Other various equipment depending on your setup and as you progress in the hobby, but most of all you will need PATIENCE, as everyone says, nothing good happens quick in this hobby!

If you look in the "stickies" section of the "New to Hobby" there is a thread all about new setup, what it requires, step and a whole lot of good information. I would recommend that as a starting point.

Spend a lot of time reading and researching everything you can about it.

Welcome to RC and to the Hobby.

So I have chosen lights, skimmer, sump, controller.

Radion XR15w G4 Pro x2 for lights

Regal 250INT for Skimmer.

New Apex 2016 for control/monitoring

I really like the Vectra M1, only issue is the apex does no control it.(how big a deal is this)

I was thinking of building my own sump but I like some of the pre built ones, what are you thoughts on Synergy reef and trigger systems(tideline)?

Thanks
