Hello everyone!,

My name is Jonathan and I have just set up my first marine aquarium. It is a 12 gallon marineland eclipse nano tank. I removed the eclipse filtration system and am using a Marineland C-160 cannister instead. I have a fission nano skimmer coming in the mail hopefully early next week. I have about 5-6lbs of live rock and 4 lbs of seed rock in there as of right now. I really want to start with some soft corals of some sort. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any advice is appreciated. Also, where would be a good LPS? Thank you!! I am so excited about this. I have always had freshwater and was always afraid to crossover.

Cheers,

Jonathan

Welcome to Reef Central vetdog !! It sounds like you have a great start, I'm not a big fan of canister filters on saltwater sytems, but if cleaned frequently you will have favorable results. TinMan

Welcome. There isn't any great saltwater stores around here except Ultimate Aquariums but they will be closed to move to a new store until october. And pet and aquatic warehouse in lynchburg. Some good beginner corals are zoanthids, any type of mushrooms, acans and micromussas, Try to stay away from sps corals unless you have good lighting and stable tank.

wouldn't that be sweet. they don't really give us much here except the bill however there are some perks

Welcome Jonathan, and I second what Hypertek said about the zoas and mushrooms. I've had great results with them in a small aquarium. I've also had good luck with leathers, but they tend to take over. Good luck with everything.
