New to the reef game, just a question though.

I live in Oklahoma off I-44 closer to Oklahoma city that Dallas/Fort Worth, and we do have a few "Pet" shops in town as well as a shop that sells fish -- mainly saltwater -- but there isn't much for a selection of tanks.

So I am looking for some suggestions on places online to get a tank. Weight isn't a major issue for me, I am looking for something that isn't majorly expensive especially with this being my first tank though I do expect to keep it for a long time. I want a tank that is 48" long preferably 24 ' deep and between 125 and 200 gallons. I plan to build my own stand and hood and setup my own sump and most of the filtration system on my own so all I really need is the tank. Though I do want to have a built in over-flow.

I have looked around online but most of what I find is nano-cubes, custom builds, or supplies. I am hoping that a prebuilt can be picked up for a good deal less than a custom. If anyone has a good site with some price lists or know of local shops in and around my area please let me know.

look for on reef central for a "reef club" in Oklahoma, if you find one just put a post in their part of the site, you'll probably have a few people wanting to sell you theirs.

NightShade00013,

Yea, Check out COMAS. There is a listing of local places here that you will find very helpful. COMAS is a good bunch of folks, you'll like them. Comas also has our own web site that is useful.

How about just asking the LFS to order you a tank. I can't believe that if you wanted a tank they wouldn't get you one. Your probably looking for a 120g, that should have the measurements.

Thanks for the info, didn't know there were any clubs in the Oklahoma area.

GreenMonkey,

Yes I am sure the LFS could get a tank ordered, and that would be a simple easy way to do things but in the type of work I mainly do which is Networking and PC repair you learn very fast the locals are around to make money. I very seldom pic up pc parts locally because oftentimes they are cheaper versions at a premium price. Not saying that all businesses work this way but it is common practice. Also getting opinions from people around the area or looking to online sources gives me some more info to base any decisions off of as well as more options to choose from.

I have been almost a year getting to this point and will be between 6 to 10 months before I actually am ready to pick up a tank. When I was younger we had about 1500 gallons worth of freshwater tanks in our home, a 120 gallon tall being the largest one and about 7 55 gallon tanks, wons of 29's and a bunch of 10's. I enjoyed a lot of it but we came across tons of problems and we jumped into things with little knowledge. I have no desire to do this and when I get a reef setup I hope to have as few problems as possible.

I have found a lot of information here as well as other sites and gotten some info from my LFS as well but not ready to jump into everything all at once.
