I bought a brown torch coral with three stems on it 4 days ago. For the past 3 days it has looked great and healthy. Today i came home from work and seen that one of the stems tennicals are a darker purplish/brown color and arnt sticking out like the others are and isnt polyped as much. Should i be concerned and if so what should i do.
All my parameters are perfect, except i do not have a test kit yet for cal or alk, but have been dosing my tank for 1 month with both. My tank is 3 and 1/2 months old.

Lighting 2x65 watt (10k) white
2x65 watt (10k) actinic
(compacts)
water flow is moderate

Those are 2 of the most important tests. Buy Salifert kits as soon as you can and test. As a rule of thumb, never dose anything that you don't test for.

Hold off on any new corals until you have tested for Alk and Ca. While you are at it, I would test for Magnesium as well.

What parameters have you tested for and what are they?

As far as the head that is not extended as much as usual goes, were there any critters nearby annoying it?
