New Tsunami update

Hello all,
This is from Deborah, who LIRA donated the Tsunami relief funds to last year:

As you know, the Solomon Islands were devastated by a tsunami this morning. Our hearts and thoughts go out to all of those who are suffering. A number of you have written to me about it, and I've been working on the disaster today as we are gathering information and assessing the situation. It does not sound good for the coastal communities. Gizo (pop. 10,000), a low-lying fishing community and major dive center, was badly hit. The reefs around the islands are among the most diverse in the world and an essential source of food and income locally. At the moment we have no reliable information on their condition, but we're working to assess damage. The first priority has to be the safety and well being of people and taking care of them. After that we can/will assess the natural resources concerns. Rather than respond individually,
I've put up a posting on my blogsite http://deborahbrosnan.com/

that has some information and also hopefully answers some of your questions that I've received. Email me if you have other thoughts.

Best wishes

Deborah
