Bought some AI sols (used) and a new controller and a home made light stand and loving it. No more T5s unless led failure. I phone pics are crap. Sorry

Thanks Bgsutton, I would love to buy the super blues or really love to buy the Hydra52's. that's what the gentleman I bought these from is buying. So envious! I have the sol whites

The Sol Blues rock! When you mentioned AI Sol above, I thought you picked up the blues. The blues are what I'm runnin.

I'm running 35% whites and 80% blues when pic was taken. Now I'm down to 5% whites for a few days to help with Algiers and cyano outbreak I've been fighting for a month or so.

A lot better. I just finished 5 days no lights and cyano gone but HGA running wild. My reactor not running properly, I need to order two of those little round filter pads for little fishes 150 media reactor.

Cool, good to hear! I did all kinds of stuff to try to get rid of cyano but I had minimal success. I finally decided to use chemiclean and it did an awesome job. I was super nervous about using it but I followed all the instructions and finally fought it off.

Good luck

I doubt chemiclean will help with green hair algae. If you use chemiclean for cyano wait a few days after the treatment and get some of that chemipure elite. More fequent water changes should also work well against that GHA

For the green hair algae, I find that a Sea Hare works best! It doesn't seem to touch the cyano though.

Turbo snails are another good GHA eater.

That being said, I have been battling it in my 180g for months now. I got two sea hares but can't seem to keep them alive. What is finally working for me is a combination of API's algaefix and physical harvesting. What a labor intensive process it is! I do water changes every two weeks and intensively hand-harvest a couple times a week. I finally feel like I'm getting the upper hand but it is still far from gone. What's weird is that there are certain corals that it doesn't seem to touch and others that it has strangled and killed. Maddening :uhoh3:

One more thing. I got a diamond goby. It doesn't eat it but it, but once I removed them, it seems to prevent the rafts of GHA that were growing on the sand from coming back. Good luck

My blue dot sea hare I bought last night munching away on the GHA. You can see the trail he made ( center right going lower of pic) in the last two hours. Hope he stay alive, numbers are good and he has lots of food.

I want to stay away from turbo snails as I heard they can be quite the bulldozers. Put my pencil urchin in my sump for that same reason, he kept knocking over rocks and frags.

That Sea Hare is going to get fat! I agree with Sillygoose, turbo snails are also an integral part of a clean up crew. You can get smaller ones. I have never had an issue with them knocking tons over.

If you get low on food for him let me know I'd like to run it in my tank for a while. Maybe we can work something out.
