Hello, I have only a few beginner corals, some that came with the tank and some I bought but all tiny.
First newbie question: are soft corals supposed to shrink during the night? See pictures below, usually it is not tilted to the side at night, but it does shrink all the way. As soon as the lights go on it goes back to being huge.
Background: nitrates and phosphates to a lesser extend where pretty bad when I got the tank.
Through all the instability the tiny leather survived and was looking pretty good. The same happens as with the above coral though: at night it shrinks.
Recently I got my values to a good level. Since last week the tiny leather stayed small during the entire day, for the entire week. Only since this week it´s opening up again. But like you can see in the picture, a small part stays white. Not sure what´s up.
This little guy seems to be doing ok? When I first got it, it was not much more then a brown white branch. In comparisson it´s now very ´full´.
This guy also retracts all its ´tentacles´ at night but always goes back to looking like normal in the morning.
