newbie question: what makes amphipods so desireable? as opposed to large brine shrimp or other more commonly available live foods?

thanks

Well most octopuses say amphipods taste like chicken.. Just kidding.
They are the preferred food of baby cephalopods because 1) they are the desired prey size and 2) their nutritional value. Brine shrimp do not have a high content of HUFAs and so their nutritional value is inadequate for rearing baby cephalopods. Salt water mysids are good too for rearing baby cephalopods, but are harder to get and more costly.
