Newbie wants opinion on picks

Ok, I know you are tired of the newbie threads. So I start a new one. This is my first post after days of reading and making calls, going to my LFS and traveling to Houston to go to several of those stores.

I have decided on my tank, a Perfecto 220 with corner flows. I am currently awaiting on bids for Starfire on ft and back and a bid for a new tank with overflow on one end. The reason for this is because where this tank is going is behind a couch and you will be able to view it from 3 sides.

For lighting a Current 72" T-5 setup. 12 x 39 watt 6-10k and 6-460mm. I am going to have a semi reef tank, if there is such a thing. I will not have hard corals but I will have fish along with some mushrooms and feather dusters and other goodies and live rock and sand.

For a pump I have decided on a Reeflo Barracuda 4200 GPH

Trigger TS300 Skimmer

Mag Drive 950 for Protein Skimmer.

36” long BERLIN sump with attached REFUGIUM, 18” wide, 2 drain bulkheads, 1 refugium bulkhead, 2 spr to put all of my goodies in it.

3-150 W Eheim-Jager Heaters

So, this is the basic set up for all of the big goodies. I will accept comments and suggestions. My wife and I have been wanting to do this for several years and now we are able to do so. We have had fresh water tanks in the past but nothing compares to a salt tank.

Any advice would be great.

thanks in advance

Shane

Sounds like fun. I would probably go with a smaller return pump though.

re-ask

re-ask

ok, maybe I did not make myself clear, Sorry.

Would you choose the things I have listed. The reason I ask is because I have tried the search and there seems to be a lot of different opinions on what to get. Also, most of the time the searc is not working for me.

Are there any ways I can save a little money here? I think I have picked middle of the road and not gone bare bottom.

I got a price on the 220 with starfire on both sides and overflows on one side. Would you do overflows on one side of the tank?

thank you

Overflow placement depends on what you want to see.
Pushing 4300/ hour through an open loop I would have 2x2" drains.

Why not get a smaller pump and put the Sequence on a closed loop.

Been looking for used stuff in my area and I am not having any luck. I may have to go as far as Houston. I will start hitting their Craigslist.

Thanks for the heads up

Would you order this tank with Starfire Glass or leave it with standard? Is there that big of a difference?
