newbie zoa ???????

Okay I am fairly new at having corals. Everytime I buy zoas they have short stalks or bases and the polyps are close together and look really nice. After a couple weeks in my tank they spread away from each other and have long stalks or bases. Is there something wrong with my tank or does this just happen?

Sounds like they are stretching for light. Whats your tank size, kind of lighting, zoa placement?

I have a 54 corner tank with a 250 14k metal halide and 2 65 w actinic pcs about a foot above the tank. The zoas are about 6 inches from the top of the water
