Newbies with new tanks and algae, check this....

I started this tank on 2 June...
This first pic was on 13 June

I don't have a current pic, but I have to look real hard to find green algae now, and coraline is taking over...
 
That would be the natural algae cycle you've experienced. It is normal for newly cycling tanks to go through a diatom and hair algae bloom. They both go away on their own in time. Water changes with RO/DI water and a cleanup crew will finish off the rest. Congrats! ;)
 
Good before and after. Should help newbies relax a bit.

I had a similar progression - now working on a slight cyano problem, and high nitrates, but I've got nothin' but time!
 
ive just noticed the same thing after a week but on one rock i have red hair growing is this a good or bad thing?
