I'm currently treating my fish in a hospital tank with chloroquine and although free ammonia is 0 the total ammonia is around 2.0. Is the only way to reduce this by carrying water changes or is it safe to add Seachem Prime every other day to ensure that free ammonia is not released? Should this worry me or this this normal when treating with chloroquine? Thanks

What ammonia test kit are you using? My understanding is CP can give false positives for ammonia. However, most people have used Prime and CP with no negative effects.

I'm using a Seachem MultiTest Ammonia. So is it best to use Prime rather than water change as was concerned that a water change could affect ph which could result in free amonia and I'd then need to carryout larger water changes? Never used CP before so was concerned there may be a reaction with the Prime. Cheers

You could do water changes but sometimes it can be hard to keep ahead of the ammonia and you also will have to replace the CP that is taken out with the water change.

I dosed some Prime about 1.5hrs ago after reading some posts that said it was fine to use and noticing a slight change in my Seachem Alert disc. Don't know if its a total coincidence but my Coral Beauty has decided to come out of the pipe it's been hiding in most of the time, other than when food goes in, and keeps going up to the side of the filter, this is starting to concern me a bit although the consensus seems to be that Prime is ok with CP? The other fish don't seem to be acting any different (2 clowns & 3 green chromis)
