I'm setting up a Aquapod 24g and didn't really want to spend $70 on their MDF stand, especially after reading the primarily negative comments about it. I searched around and found this at Overstock for $89.99, only $2.95 shipping.

Parson One-drawer nightstand (wheat or chestnut finish)

It fits the Aquapod 24 very well (less than 0.5" remains on each side). It's solid wood (except for the inside of the pull-out top drawer). I've got mine assembled (took an hour+) with the water filled Aquapod on it, and it's plenty sturdy. I got the wheat finish to match my office furniture; the chestnut finish seems to go in and out of stock so keep checking.

You can likely find an overstock coupon and get it for a little less.

That's a good find, and as you put it sturdy which is the important part.
In more than 25yrs of fishkeeping, I've only own one stand purchased for the tank.

Usually I build my own or modify a piece of furniture as you have done.
I just picked up a RR Oceanic 58 for a steal; I have an armoire that I intend to cut down and modify as the stand.

Nice find! I'm going to seriously consider that.

Jstevens, do you think that you could precisely measure the surface remaining around you Aquapod. you said it was about .5" on each side. Does that include front and back? I'd like to know how snug it fits because I don't have a lot of room to spare. Ever 0.1" makes a difference.

Thanks

M270,

The dimensions on the product page appear to be right on. I measure about 20-1/2" W x 18-3/4" D. These are the dimensions of the top platform, which overhangs the base on the sides and front.

I measure about 3/8" of visible wood on the sides. I left 1/8" visible at the front center, more as you go outwards due to the Aquapod front curvature. This leaves 1-1/4" visible at the back.

I have the stand 1-1/2" away from the wall (actually, from some door and window casing) because this worked out to be just right so that when the hood is open it slightly rests against the casings -- that way there should be less stress on the hinges.

p.s. the wheat color isn't as yellow as it looks in the pictures. it's more of your standard light oak color.
