Niger Trigger in Reef?

I have one in my reef tank, he's been in it for almost a year now. I have lot's of smaller fish in there with him, like chromis, six line wrasse, and gobies. He doesn't pay them any mind. I have heard a lot of people say they get meaner when they get bigger though. I will just have to wait and see... Great fish though, full of personality....

I know I currently own one and I am getting a 180 gal on Monday. And I want it to be a reef. But I don't want to get rid of my Niger.

The only problem I see is that big fish produce a lot of waste so water quality could be an issue depending on what you are trying to keep and how much time/money you are willing to spend on maintenance.

I agree with 125G Reefer. They're extremely unpredictable in this way. I know some people who are going on 10+ years with a niger in the reef with no problems, and I know others who have regretted it immediately. If you're going to try it, I'd do so with a backup plan to remove the fish if necessary.
Also, if you can have all your corals, motile inverts, smaller fish, etc established well before the niger goes in, you'll have a better chance.
