I have a NIKON Coolpix 8700 8.x megapixels, I have been trying to get some pictures on my coral / tank at night but it seems almost impossible to get the colors to come out correct. does anyone know how i can do this?

I know its a lighting issue but to the naked eye the florescences of the coral seem to be so bright but capturing it on my camera seems difficult.

Hopefully you're using a tripod. The color problem is a white balance issue- have you tried using the different wb presets? Take a test shot with each setting and see what looks best. Shooting in RAW format is ideal for this kind of thing because you can change the wb setting on the computer after the picture has been taken.

ahh okay... well I will giver a shot tonight... I really haven't played with the white balancing yet so I really don't know what I'm doing. BTW how do you shot in the RAW format?

Check it out in the manual- I haven't used that model so I'm not familiar with where the different settings are. Most likely it's a setting you access thru the menu. Do you have the software that came with the camera? You'll need it to convert the raw pictures into jpegs. During that conversion [in the software] you can make color and exposure adjustments.
