I have a 75 gal. Its been up for about 7-8 months. I have 120lbs ish of lr. actually its not all live rock yet. Some of it only has a little purple on it. I have a 4" dsb and several fish. I have mushrooms, zoos, a leather, palys, and a bta. My amonia is 0, my nitrite is 0, and my ph is 8.2. my nitrate spiked last week and I can't get it below 20. when it first went up it was above 40. I'v been doing a 10 gal water change every other day. I have macro algea in the tank. What could cause my nitrate to spike like this???

Thankyou,

Adam

IMO...20 is really not too bad....keep doing water changes though...need to get it down....anything disturb your DSB? as that can /might cause nitrate to go up suddenly....whats your filtration?

About a week or two ago I had a maxi jet fall off the wall. Instant snow storm. It blew pretty deep. I have the cpr bak pak.

More water it is. Scence the begining it still sounds funny when I say that I have to water my fish.

I agree with BurntOutReefer, must have disturbed the deeper DSB layer. Don't do anything drastic, 20 is not really dangerous to your tank. I guess the prudent thing to do would be a few water changes to get it down. Personally, I would just leave it be and let your DSB and regular water changes get it down over the span of a month or two.
