nitrite problem

i have set up my first marine tank 72x24x24 i put four damsels in to mature the system in mid december have no trace of ammonia but i cannot seem to get the nitrite down. i have a 60x18x18 sump tank and a 6000ltr per hour pump a 1200 turbo protein skimmer two 500watt heaters my fish are feeding well and grown since i brought them.

can any one give me some ideas i have being keeping and breeding all types of tropical fish for 30 years plus but i am now stumped.

IMO i would have another person check your water sounds to me like your test kit may be bad. 2 monthes seems long to still have nitrite's in your tank. also do you have any LR?

Its always a good idea to double check your results. What type of kit are you using??? I have found some weird inconsistant results with a couple of test kits. Salifert works very well. if you still have high nitrates after you have good data Lokki into a refugium/ DSB These are very effective at NNR

Hi sam thanks for the quick reply i have brought new sera master test kit plus had my water tested at my local fish shop they get the same readings as me.
