Nitrite

I know this may seem a new to the hobby question, but I figure only those here may test it to this extent. As a lot of kits test my nitrite at 0, but when I use a Salifert kit looking through for the smallest resolution I always get a tinge of purple so most likely .01 or below. Is this acceptable in an SPS tank or should I expect it to be crystal clear. I have kept many SPS in the past just getting back in after a decade or more away, and in the past i'm not sure I ever tested nitrite.

Thanks

Times have changed a little. When. I first got into the hobby the norm was 0 nitrates and phosphates. I could never get good colors. The new norm is higher nutrients. I think most people say 5ppm nitrates and .04 phosphates. I keep my nitrates between 5-10ppm and phosphates between .04-.1 with no ill effect.
