I have a 100 gallon cube tank that was set up this past October. I have 10x24 watt t5 bulbs over the tank at about 6 inches above water line. 70 lbs of live rock and 2x mp40. My nitrates always read zero on my Red Sea test kit and the phosphates are hard to tell on the color wheel but are either zero or the next color up which I think is 0.02. I have 13 small acro frags in the tank. Some are growing at a decent pace others are extremely slow. Even though I can notice some growth my alk stays stable at 8.1-8.3 on my Hanna checker. This is without adding any alk or calcium supplement. I dose nothing for calc or alk. My calcium is about 420 and mag 1300. I do 15 gal water changes ever 2 to 3weeks. As of right now I only have 2 gobies due to an ich outbrake that wiped out the rest of my tank. I feed them once a day a little spirulina brine shrimp and I dose kz amino acids 4 drops per day. I have a little Coraline algea growth in rocks and glass and my snails are reproducing like crazy. I figured with all the Rock the snail shells growing and 13 acro frags that the alk would need to be supplemented but I guess not. I also use a Red Sea text kit to check alk as well. That reads 7.7 consistently but I cross checked that with my lfs and they had a reading of 8.3 with their salifert test kit. So the Red Sea reading 7.7 is consistsnt with the Hanna at 8.1-8.3. Is there anything I should be doing different? Colors are a little on the pale side for some corals also.
