No fish story: Aquarium draws million in 3 months

My wife hates long road trips (anything longer than driving to Disney is long to her - LOL). But I was surprise when she wanted to take a road trip to see the Georgia Aquarium. She asked about us going while the kids are on spring break. After seeing the turnout at the aquarium on school holidays we decided not to, but are planning a trip at a not so busy time of the year.

I'll be in Atlanta on business in a few months and am going to try and make time for it. Not sure if my wife will be happy that I may see it first without her and the kids.

btw: Has anyone taken notice to the reef tank at Seaworld in the retail shop near the Journey to Atlantis water ride? It's a very nice reef tank with a few clams and lots of live corals and fish. The room your in where this tank is located has other tanks to look at. You even walk on an in-floor tank. While standing on it...look up <surprise>!! I tried to get a sales person to see if someone could let me take a peek at the back side of the reef tank, but they were too busy. If you haven't seen it and are at SeaWorld you have to go to the back of the retail store next to Journey to Atlantis. From the outside it looks like another one of the hundreds of retail shop so it's easy to miss and it's not listed as an attraction.

I visited the Atlanta Aquarium last month on a business trip ( had some time to kill) . It was Ok . I was inpressed by the whale sharks , but there were to many people there to really enjoy the aquarium .I felt like I was apart of a herd of cattle being driven passed most of the exhibits I would like to go back went things die down a bit . Don't get me wrong its worth the trip if you haven't seen it or are going that way. I think there reef tank was a little weak not a lot of corals or maybe I went passed to fast to actually see any corals.

tbass - thanks for the information. That's why we decided to not go during spring break. Hopefully the herds will subside somewhat after the newness passes. It's great that so many ppl show an interest. It sounds like with the turn-out/income they are planning to increase the number of residents. Perhaps over time they'll establish a nice reef exhibit.

Someone in our club forum mention that it was too bad the city of Jacksonville doesn't have a public marine tank. I bet the city would get a lot of volunteers if they ever decide to host one.

Has anyone else visited the Georgia Aquarium that can share their experience?

Scuba TC - doesnt the museum downtown still have an aquarium . Think I seen one there about 15 yrs ago, thats the last time i went to the museum. If i remember corretly it was a pretty big one Fish only though.
