No Powerheads in 30g Kuda tank?

I am very "weary" about not using any powerheads for my new 30g Kuda tank. The only water movement is the skimmer and the HO Penguin Filter (with only a carbon big in it). Other than that, no other flow. There is about 25 pounds of live rock (stacked up in a corner), which helps hide the powerhead that runs the skimmer.

Is there such thing as to little flow in a seahorse tank?

Just concerned about algae blooms. I noticed that when my freshwater tanks would have very low flow, I would have more algae.

So what I did today was take out the powerhead (don't have the Kudas yet), and placed it in my reef tank (which now has 21.5 gph flow).

How can I test to see if I have good flow? Is there someway to tell (non-scientifically is cool too), as long it works, how much flow I have (if it is enough)???

THANKS!!!

I have a power head in my horse tank... the way yours was aimed as too much flow going directly into the tank... try placing it behind the rocks-do some re-aquascaping, so its diverted over the rocks, but don't leave an area that the horses can get stuck in between the powerhead and the rock...

you could also try to split the flow of the powerhead output to distribute the flow a little. I did this using a 1/2" 90 degree pbci pipe elbow by drilling a hole the sixe of the outlet on the 90 degree bend. I then put the powerheat output into that hole. This split the water output into two streams at 90 degrees to each other.

yeah the powerhead is no longer ion that place....it was just intended to be there to mix up the water during cycling. The powerhead is now in my other tank.

I posted this on seahorse.org, and I was told that I may have just enough flow, since the filter is 175 gph, and skimmer is probably miving the water a little too. The 175 gph, if indeed thats what goes back into the tank, is giving me about 5-6x flow rate.

THANKS!!!
