Non Photosynthetic LPS?

LOL. You bet! One of the most popular corals round Reef Central....
Tubastrea, the sun corals. Have to be fed, so not a newbie coral..

:D I got mine after 3 months in the hobby. Doing good so far :D
Just feed and clean, feed and clean... The only thing absent in routine - the smell of diapers :p

There are different colors of Tubastrea - orange with yellow polyps, yellow, greenish black; with low skeleton and with high skeleton, sometimes on the same rock at the one price. Take a look in LFS.

There are similar and may be non-photosynthetic corals - dendrophyllia (larger polyps), duncan (less colorful), but with these I could be mistaken - don't have them.

Ducans are in the Dendrophyllidae family but I'm pretty sure they need light. Gorgonias and carnation corals are non photosynthetic

duncans are cool with low lighting, they grow best with feeding anyway. I imagine you could get away with PC. But sun coral and dendros are your best bet and my favorite.

I tried my duncans in lower light and they dont look as green i keep them under direct MH these need a decent amount of light but the rest are correct. I actually dont feed my duncans at all here is a pic

I have 216watts of T5 and have tried to move them up towards the light, and they were not a fan. Mine also tend to stay open and fill out when feed; when the flow is turn off and they have mysid dropped on them is the best way.
